Rcom to Shut down 2G Network in a month Will Continue With 4G Only Network like JIO

As per latest reports, RCOM is shortly going to shut down its 2G/3G network in India and will go with the only 4G network like Reliance JIO.

From November 30, 2017, Reliance prepaid and postpaid customers having 2G or 3G mobile handsets or data card will not able to use Reliance GSM services. Reliance will turn off the 2G/3G network and will go ahead with the only 4G network.

RCom’s official statement in TOI says,

RCom has decided to adopt a 4G-focused strategy for profitable growth of its wire less business. Accordingly , RCom will be optimising its 2G and 3G footprint, and related infrastructure and human resources, with effect from November 30

The customers of Reliance now have to move to another network by porting out (MNP) or they can upgrade their handset which supports 4G network to continue to use the same mobile number. However, Reliance GSM has not yet implemented VoLTE technology like JIO which enable voice call on 4G network, so as of now it’s very uncertain how Reliance will offer voice calls service to its customers. Reliance has advised prepaid customers and retailers to exhaust all the remaining balance in their account before 30 November. All customers will receive UPC code by Reliance.

As per our sources, Airtel is shortly going to launch new offers for Reliance GSM customers to catch them into their own network.
