Axis Bank, Indias third largest private sector bank denies reports published in local media about revoking the banking license by authorities.

Recently I-T department raided Axis Banks New Delhi branch for the second time and unearthed Rs. 100 crores deposited in 44 fake accounts. After the report of a seizure of funds by IT department from Delhi branch, local Hindi newspaper Dainik Dopahar published front page headline that reads, Government is ready to revoke the Axis bank’s license because of wrongdoing after demonetization.

There are some fake messages circulated on WhatsApp that says,

Request to close your account from axis bank fast any time govt can cancel license of bank.

Forwarded as received.

However, there is no such official statement made by authorities about the revoking the banking license of Axis bank. Customers of Axis Bank advised not to panic and they do not need to close their account as stated in Whatsapp message or print media.
