Airtel today doubled prepaid mobile call tariff in 22 circles to Rs. 2 per minute for local and national voice calling. The 100% tariff hike in this year 2013 is almost double than last revised tariff in the year 2012.

The default tariff plan for Airtel prepaid/postpaid customer will be Rs.2 per min for both local and national calls. However customer still has choice to reduce their default call rated by recharging with special rate cutter plans which offers 0.5p/sec or 30 paise/min call charges with 30 days validity.

Increasing costs in process is the main reason for the sudden tariff hike in prepaid and postpaid mobile, Airtel says.
